History of Eau Claire Gospel Center
God has been very faithful to Eau Claire Gospel Center from the beginning, and since that is His nature, we look forward to what He will do in the future! Following is a brief history of our church to date.
- 1991-1992. The Eau Claire Gospel Center is the result of an outreach in Eau Claire from the First Baptist Church of Durand. This outreach began in the spring of 1991 with a Bible Class in the office of a local business. That Tuesday evening Bible Class brought about many more classes in several locations. These witnessed the Lord's converting work. It had been the intent from the beginning to see a church develop from the need to baptize those who had come to Christ.
- 1992. During this time a church was formed and began to meet in several homes in the area. An emphasis during this time was on discipleship and seeing a church develop as an organism. Acts 2:42 was the basis for gathering - to teach, fellowship, remember the Lord, and to pray.
- 1995-6. By this time the church had grown enough that a building was needed as a meeting place (the current building at 1505 Cameron). Over the next five years the Lord added many more souls to His church. Beyond the church weekly newspaper articles were written, a local T.V. program was started, and bi-annual tent meetings were held.
- 1997. Bible Training Classes were started under the name of Eau Claire Bible Training Institute (now School). These were evening classes and continue to this day.
- 2001. Deacons and an elder were appointed for the work in the church. Curt Laughlin was appointed as an elder to work along side of Dan Stanley.
- 2005-2006. The building was enlarged for more room.
- 2008-. It is our purpose as the Lord's church to grow in love one to another and to reach out to a lost and dying world. The fields are white unto harvest. The Lord has continued to save by His grace. We look forward by faith to what He will continue to do in the days to come. Our commission is to go, teach the gospel, baptize those who believe, and teach them to observe all things whatsoever the Lord Jesus taught. We are glad to be part of the family of God, and rejoice that we are counted worthy to be in the ministry.
Obviously in such a brief account of so many years, many details were left out. If you should have any questions, please contact us.
